Aldrich Named Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award Finalist

Lancer Men's Basketball Coach One of 20 Finalists for Prestigious Award

BOSTON, Mass. – Griff Aldrich was named a finalist for the 2023-24 Skip Prosser Man of the Year award on Tuesday, the second straight season he has been a finalist.

The Skip Prosser Man of the Year award honors those who not only achieve success on the basketball court but who display moral integrity on and off it as well.

Aldrich is one of 20 finalists for the award, which will be presented in Phoenix at the site of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship.

Other finalists include coaches such as Hubert Davis (North Carolina), Matt Painter (Purdue) and Jon Scheyer (Duke).

Over the past six seasons, Aldrich has revolutionized Longwood men's basketball into a program that consistently has competed in the Big South year in and year out. The Lancers are headed to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years this week, and they have won at least 20 games in three straight seasons for the first time in team history.

In the last three years, the Lancers have won 67 games, the best three-year stretch in program history.

The Skip Prosser Man of the Year award is named in honor of the late Skip Prosser, former coach at Wake Forest, Xavier and Loyola (Md.). Prosser averaged 21 wins per season in his six years at Wake Forest. He passed away of an apparent heart attack on July 26, 2007 in his office at Wake Forest.

The recipient of the annual award is determined by a 10-member voting committee, which consists of current and former head coaches, as well as two senior staff members of collegeinsider.com.
