FARMVILLE, Va. — The Longwood women's basketball team placed four players in double figures and ran away from visiting McNeese, 81-54, in the final game of the Shirley Duncan Classic at the Joan Perry Brock Center on Sunday.

The Lancers swept through the tournament, beat South Carolina State, William & Mary and the Cowgirls on successive days to improve to 7-4 on the season. Amor Harris posted first three double-digit scoring games, averaging 17 points per game to be named the tournament MVP. Harris finished with 16 points on 8-for-12 shooting in 28 minutes off the bench against McNeese.

Kiki McIntyre, who had 16 points, nine steals and seven assists, joined Harris on the all-tournament team, along with Otaifo Esenabhalu, who punched a strong weekend with 11 points and 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Freshman Olivia Bowes tallied 12 points in 10 minutes, too.

"The goal was to hold steady at home and pull out these three at home and we did that," said Longwood head coach Erika Lang-Montgomery. "So I'm I'm super proud of how we responded  to the challenge. I mean, we haven't done this before and so it was really good to see our team execute on both sides of the ball.

"That continues to be part of our identity, our team is very unselfish," she said of the balanced attack. "They work really hard, they don't care who gets the credit on each night and so they're willing to pass up a good shot for a better shot, and at the end of the day, it's about us and our team."

Longwood shot 48 percent from the field (29-for-60) and 37 percent from 3-point range, making seven from distance. The Lancers turned 32 McNeese turnovers into 35 points and received 47 points from their reserves.

McNeese (5-5) led, 12-8, with 2:26 remaining in the first quarter before Longwood closed the period with a 7-3 run to to head into the second knotted at 15-all following a trey by Malea Brown and jumper by Harris.

From there, the Lancers used a 20-6 second quarter to take control, shooting 8-of-14 in the frame, while limiting McNeese just two field goals. McIntyre had five points and three steals in the quarter, pacing seven different scorers, for a 35-15 halftime advantage.

The lead grew to as many as 29 with a 1:17 remaining in the third quarter when Esenabhalu knocked in a pair from the line for a 60-31 lead. The free throws were part of a 7-for-8 performance from the stripe for the Valdosta, Ga., native, and the team went 16-of-26 on the day.

Longwood posted 18 steals in the win, as well.

"That's part of identity to be disruptive on the defensive end and create offense from our defense," Lang-Montgomery said. "I think we could see the depth from our bench over the course of the weekend that helped us continue to be able to play the style we want to play every night."

The Cowgirls never crept closer than 20 points in the final 10 minutes as Longwood emptied its bench getting sophomore Nalani Simmons, junior Jaelyn Brown and freshman Montgomery Bedford playing time. Simmons hit a jumper in the first minute of the quarter for a 62-35 edge and Jaelyn Brown canned a free throw with a minute remaining.

Paris Guillory finished with 12 points to lead McNeese in a losing effort. The Cowgirls Mireia Yepes was named to the all-tournament team, averaging seven points and 8.7 rebounds.

Longwood is back in action next Sunday at Florida on SEC Network. Tip time at the O'Connell Center is set for noon.
