HOW IT HAPPENED:

A back-and-forth game went right down to the wire, with both teams refusing to lose. Gardner-Webb (1-9, 0-2 Big South) rallied after halftime to erase a three-goal Longwood lead, and the Runnin' Bulldogs took a late lead.

However, the Lancers had answers. Gardner-Webb forced a Lancer turnover, but Stohlman swiped the ball right back with less than 90 seconds left and the Lancers down 11-10. The freshman defender then raced up the field, circled around the goal and buried it in the back of the net for the equalizer.

The two sides played hot potato after the ensuing draw, and Bella McCullough made a pair of huge saves in goal for the Lancers to keep the game tied at 11.

In overtime, Longwood won the opening draw and never looked back. Emily Cate Smith found DeFelippo slicing toward the goal and hit her in stride. DeFelippo didn't miss, and pandemonium ensued as the Lancer bench poured onto the field.

Early in the game, Sophia Passa, Claire Libby and Riley McDonald powered the Lancer offense. Passa continued her recent hot stretch, and she posted five points for a second straight game. She had two goals and a team-best three assists.

Meanwhile, Libby and McDonald served as finishers for the Lancers. The veteran duo had hat tricks.

McCullough earned the win in goal for Longwood behind a strong five-save performance after coming on as a substitute in the second quarter. She finished the game.

Emma Duchscherer led Gardner-Webb with four goals and an assist, and Alera Cornett had three goals and an assist for the Runnin' Bulldogs.

WHAT THEY SAID:

"That was our first full 60 of Longwood lacrosse, and I'm excited to see where we can take that as we go forward into conference play," said Longwood Head Coach Kylar Ferguson. "I'm proud of the team and what they did together today."

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
