WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Following a busy week that saw Longwood women's tennis play five duals in seven days, the Lancers concluded the week on the road against William & Mary. Longwood ultimately fell by a score of 7-0 against the Tribe.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

William & Mary (7-4) earned the dual's first point against Longwood (5-9) with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches.
Maria Saez and
Nina Hederich's match at No. 2 was left unfinished, as the Tribe had already clinched the doubles point.

After dropping the first set 6-0 at No. 1,
Emma Nurgazieva battled all the way to a seventh point in the second set, but lost 7-5.
Maria Saez earned five set victories at No. 2, but was unable to claim the victory.

The dual meet victory was claimed for William & Mary after the No. 3 singles match, but the two sides finished the rest of the slated matches. The Lancers dropped a few closely contested matches to round out the afternoon, including a tie-break loss for
Zoe Barton at No. 6.

"William & Mary was just too tough from top to bottom," said Longwood Director of Tennis Adam Jackson. "The girls played hard and we will try to get back in the win column in conference play on Thursday."

The Lancers will have several days of rest before returning to play against conference foe Radford on Thursday, March 16
th. The first match is set to begin at 2 p.m. in Radford.
