#21 N.C. State 14 17 0
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Longwood (2-7) had the first hit of the game on an
Eliot Dix single in the top of the first, but N.C. State (8-0) answered with a two-out rally that led two four runs in the home half of the inning.
Longwood starter
Dylan Saale struck out the first two batters he saw in the bottom of the first. Carter Trice cranked a two-run home run, and Jacob Cozart added another two batters later.
The Wolfpack stayed in the hunt, and Cozart added three more RBI on the day for a career best 5 RBI.
The Lancers couldn't get much traction against N.C. State P.J. Labriola. The lefthander only struck out two, but he held Longwood off the bases and only allowed three hits as the Wolfpack defense played error free.
Labriola (1-0) earned the win for N.C. State while Saale (0-2) took the loss for the Lancers.
Ethan Barnes had his first collegiate base hit in the game for the Lancers.
