HOW IT HAPPENED:
Â
A good first 15 minutes by James Madison proved to be the deciding factor, as the Dukes jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter. Morgan Merritt opened the scoring with her first goal of the season.
Â
From that point on, the Lancers adjusted and played even the rest of the way.
Â
When James Madison scored, the Lancer offense quickly answered back the other way in both the second and fourth quarters through
Kylie Levine.
Â
For Levine, it was her first career multi-goal game, and she has now scored in back-to-back contests for Longwood.
WHAT THEY SAID:
"Take out the first wuarter, and that's a different game," said Longwood Head Coach
Miranda Rigg. "We played some great team hockey and controlled a lot of the game. I'm proud of the way they played and continued to fight to the end. We are getting better game by game."
