Hill Named To VaSID All-State Team

FARMVILLE, Va. – Justin Hill was named to the VaSID Second Team on Wednesday afternoon, the organization announced, as the Longwood men's basketball team added more awards to its trophy case.
The Lancers made it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time at the Division I level following a 26-win season which was also the team's best record since joining the Division I ranks.
The team swept the Big South titles this season, claiming the regular season overall crown on the strength of a 15-1 conference record before winning three games in three days to take the tournament title as well. Both titles were program firsts.
Longwood ripped off 10 straight wins to start conference play and won 18 of 20 games in this calendar year. The Lancers were selected as a No. 14 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Hill was an All-Big South First Team selection while also being named to the Big South All-Tournament Team. The sophomore was Longwood's leading scorer at 14.2 points per game while also averaging 4.2 assists per game. He was also a finalist for the Lou Henson Award given to the top mid-major player in the country.
As a team, Longwood had a pair of All-Big South First Team selections, with
Isaiah Wilkins joining Hill as a first teamer, and
DeShaun Wade was named a Big South Honorable Mention. It marked the first time the Lancers have had a pair of players named to the conference first team since joining the league in 2012-13.
Meanwhile, Hill's selection to the VaSID Second Team is the first selection for the men's program since the program joined the Big South.
