LANCER LEADOFF
  • Longwood completes what will be a nine game North Carolina road trip on Tuesday
  • The Lancers are currently on a nine game losing streak
  • Michael Peterson is currently first in the Big South in stolen bases. Peterson has started every game in the outfield and is batting .395 to start the season. 
  • Longwood's Cole Taylor will be starting his first career game on the mound
  • The Lancers have allowed more than five runs in ten out of twelve games this season 
  • Offensively, the Lancers rank in the top five in the Big South of every major statistical category, including hits, doubles, triples, HR and average.
  • Charlotte is currently 7-4 and holds a victory over fellow Big South conference squad, Gardner-Webb
  • Saint Peters is 3-5 and is yet to play a game at home
THE LAST TIME OUT
  • Longwood and Charlotte have met twice in the past. Charlotte have won both contests. This will be the first time Longwood has played Charlotte since 2005
  • Longwood meets St. Peters for the first time  since 2010, and hosts them for the first time since 2007. Longwood currently holds a 6-0 record over the Peacocks.

  • Cole Taylor is set to make his first collegiate start on Tuesday. The redshirt junior has appeared has 10 career appearances out of the bullpen and struck out eight in his career.

PLAYER(S) TO WATCH
  • Hunter Gilliam is coming off of a week that saw him blast two more home runs and added two RBI. The farmville native now has six homeruns and finished the weekend on a three game hit streak
  • Michael Peterson has started every game for the Lancers and is currently enjoying a .395 batting average. A dangerous base runner, Peterson already has nine stolen bases this season, and is yet to be caught. Peterson is first in the Big South in stolen bases, and fourth in Division 1.
