Blacksburg, Va. – The Longwood women's tennis team defeated Ashland University 7-0 to claim their third victory of the season.
Doubles
Longwood's (3-6) No.1 doubles team of
Emma Nurgazieva and
Karina Rizvanova bested Ashland's (1-2) Gabriella Hudec and Claudia Adcock, 6-1 to start the match.
Maria Saez and
Wiktoria Czerny would win the No.2 doubles match 6-3 over Kortney Reed and Huntyr Lake, and clinched the doubles point for the Lancers. The No.3 doubles match between
Zoe Barton and
Nina Hederich, and Alice Adin and Meredith Fitch went to a tiebreaker, but the Lancers claimed the sweep winning 7-6 (12-10).
Singles
The Lancers Nos 1-5 in singles all won in straight sets. Nurgazieva, Rizvanova, Saez, Czerny and Hederich respectively, did not allow their opponent to claim more than two games.
Alexandra Hincu won in two sets over Fitch, but needed a tiebreaker to claim the sweep for the Lancers, 7-6, 6-0.

Longwood will finish their long road trip on Wednesday, March 9
th when they travel to Norfolk State to battle the Spartans.
