NORFOLK, Va. – The Longwood women's tennis team secured a 6-1 victory over Norfolk State University. The win gives the team their third victory of the season.
Doubles
Longwood's (7-10) Nos 1 and 3 duos of freshman
Karina Rizvanova and senior
Emma Nurgazieva as well as sophomore
Zoe Barton and freshman
Wiktoria Czerny triumphed with 6-1 wins, respectively. The Spartans No.2 pairing of Breana Cook and Aleksandra Evodkimova took a game off the No.2 Longwood tandem of
Maria Saez and
Nina Hederich 6-3.
Singles
Evdokimova defeated Nurgazieva in No.1 singles 6-1, 6-3. The Lancers quickly swept the rest of the match. No. 3 and No.5 singles saw junior
Maria Saez and sophomore
Nina Hederich take down Cook and Laura Ruiz, respectively in straight sets. Rizvanova won a 7-5 set in No.2 singles over Amber Fuller before the match was retired. Czerny defeated Laura Ruiz in No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-3, 10-8. Barton defeated Andrea Barcenas in the No.6 match 3-6, 6-4, 11-9.
