FARMVILLE, Va. – The men's tennis team triumphed 7-0 over Southern Virginia University on Tuesday in Farmville.
Doubles
Longwood (8-8) Senior
Guillermo Cagigas and junior
Ernest Rocabert started off the match with a win in No.1 doubles over seniors Daniel Blonquist and Tanner Bassett, 6-4. Freshmen
Lukas Krause and
Luis Reis toppled sophomores Ethan Campbell and Mason Pitcher 6-2 in No.3 doubles to clinch the doubles point. In No.2 doubles Knights junior Marcos Dias and sophomore Benton Drake defeated graduate
Rosen Naydenov and graduate
Jourdan Kast 6-4.
Singles
Rocabert and Cagigas won in straight sets against Bassett and Drake in No.3 and No.4 singles respectively. No.5 and No.6 singles saw freshman
Yoav Weinberg and freshman
Luis Reis achieve straight set victories against Pitcher and freshman Marlow Perez-Urrutia, respectively. In no.2 singles graduate
Jourdan Kast faced off against Blonquist before emerging victorious 7-6, 6-2. Naydenov and Dias went for a heated No.1 singles before the Lancer prevailed 6-3, 5-7, 11-9 to complete the sweep for Longwood.
