FARMVILLE, Va. – The Gardner-Webb Bulldogs upended the Longwood women's tennis team in a 6-1 match. The result continues the Runnin Bulldogs perfect start in conference play.
Doubles
Lancers (4-9) senior
Emma Nurgazieva and freshman
Karina Rizvanova opened with a 7-5 no.1 doubles win over Gardner Webb's (5-6) senior Manon Delsol and graduate Elin Hellberg. The Bulldogs swiftly retalliated in No.2 and No.3 doubles as the pairs of junior Teodora Ristic and senior Maria Jardim as well as sophomore Katie Watts and Emilia Roslund took down junior
Maria Saez and sophomore
Nina Hederich then sophomore
Zoe Barton and freshman
Wiktoria Czerny 6-4 and 6-1 respectively, to clinch the doubles point
Singles
In No.3 singles Saez eventually won out over Jardim in a 6-3, 3-6, 10-1 game. Hellberg and Roslund fought to 6-3, 6-1 and 6-5, 7-5 victories against Czerny and Hederich in No.4 and No.5 singles, respectively. Bulldogs Ristic, Delsol, and sophomore Elise Semmartin took home straight set victories in No.1, No.2, and No.6 singles against Nurgazieva, Rizvanova and Barton respectively.
