The Opening Tip:
  • Longwood earned the programs first post season victory in DI history over Mount St. Mary, and now prepare for the No. 1 seed overall coming from the ACC - the NC State Wolfpack. The win also marked the third time a Big South team has earned an NCAA post-season victory.
  • The Lancers are inching closer to becoming the Big South's second ranked team in total points over a season, with a good chance to fall into the third rank after Saturday.
  • Akila Smith has now listed her name in several elite categories across the conference - including 1000 points, 500+ rebounds, and 100 blocked shots in a season.
  • Kyla McMakin is now inside the top 20 for all-time leading scorers in the Big South, with high potential of becoming the straight-up leader next season. Also, with seven more free throws McMakin will be tied for best FT% in the conference. With six points on Saturday, McMakin will be in first place for career points at Longwood.
  • The two meetings between the Wolfpack and Lancers occurred in 2011-12 and 2012-13 right when Longwood joined the Big South conference.
