HAMPTON, Va. – The Longwood women's tennis team took down Hampton University with a perfect score 7-0. This comes alongside the men's tennis team's 7-0 victory against Hampton University today and makes for the first Big South win of the season for both teams.
Doubles
In the No.2 doubles match, Longwood's (5-7) junior
Maria Saez and sophomore
Nina Hederich defeated junior Laura Peralta and freshman Zoe Walker 6-3. No.3 doubles clinched the doubles point with sophomore
Zoe Barton and freshman
Wiktoria Czerny claiming the win by a score of 6-1 against junior Franzene Tsui and junior Keri Quillin. The No.1 doubles between the pairs of senior
Emma Nurgazieva and freshman
Karina Rizvanova against senior Milena Amedieva and senior Viktoria Ljungman resolved in a did not finish because the doubles point had already been clinched.
Singles
The No.1 singles match needed a tiebreaker decision between Nurgazieva and Ljungman but Nurgazieva claimed the win 7-6, 6-2. The No. 2-5, singles saw the Lancers clinch the match with straight set victories as Rizvanova beat Amedieva, Czerny took down Tsui, Saez defeated Peralta, Hederich won against Quillin. The No.6 singles match needed between Saez and Barton Walker went Longwood's way 7-5, 6-2 to complete the sweep.
