LANCER LEADOFF
  • Longwood travels to Elon, North Carolina to play Elon University in a three game weekend series
  • Lancers are coming off back to back losses from Virginia Commonwealth and NC State
  • Logan Berrier was named the Big South relief pitcher of the week for week 1
  • Hayden Harris is coming off of a weekend where he batted .462 and had a grand slam on his was to 8 RBI in three games.
  • Eliot Dix was a threat in the batters box in the opening series for the Lancers. Dix went 5-5 in the series finale and crossed the plate three times himself
  • The Lancers will be starting the same three starting pitchers from the opening weekend series that saw them sweep Eastern Shore

  • Freshman Kevin Warunek looks to build off his promsing debut. Warunek picked up the win in his debut, pitching five innings and striking out three.
  • Dominick D'Ercole returns to the mound following a no decision in his debut. The redshirt sophomore went three innings, struck out three and allowed just two hits.
PLAYER(S) TO WATCH
  • Logan Berrier finished the 2021 season as the ace reliever when called upon. Berrier had a sub 4 ERA and struck out 41 while holding opponents to a .197 batting average in 2021. He has started the season with his first career relief pitcher of the week awards after a 4 strikeout in two inning performance.
  • Grant Melnyk is having a great start to his sophomore campaign. The Virginia Beach native is batting .500 through five games and is coming off a 3-4 game against NC State that saw him bring home two of the three runs scored by the Lancers.
  • Andrew Potojecki is looking to build off of his strong 2022 debut and cement himself as an ace for the Longwood pithcing staff. Potojecki tied his career high in innings pitched and allowed one earned run on opening day.
