Elon Men's Tennis Tops Longwood 5-2

FARMVILLE, Va. – The Elon University men's tennis team defeated Longwood 5-2. This match was Elon's first win of the season, and Longwood's third loss in as many matches.
Doubles
The #1 doubles match saw the Phoenix's (1-4) senior Chung-Han Tsai and sophomore Daniel Martin take down Longwood's (1-4) graduate
Rosen Naydenov and freshman
Luis Reis 6-1. The Lancers #2 doubles tandem of senior
Guillermo Cagigas and junior
Ernest Rocabert took senior Camilo Ponce and Kyle Frankel to a tiebreaker but ultimately were defeated 7-5, clinching the doubles point for Elon. Longwood's #3 pair of freshmen
Nikhil Kulkarni and
Yoav Weinberg went against Elon's junior Nicholas Campbell and sophomore Ben Zipay. The Lancers duo were winning 6-5, when the match was labeled a "Did not finish" due to Elon already clinching the doubles point.
Singles
In #1 singles Naydenov won a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 match against Frankel. Elon's #2 Campbell, #3 Martin, and #4 Ponre defeated Longwood's Cagigas, Kast and Weinberg, respectively, in straight sets. The three straight singles points clinched the match for Elon. Longwood scored a second singles point through their #5 Rocabert who defeated Tsai, 6-2, 7-6. The match concluded with #6 singles when Zipay took down Reis in a tiebreaker 6-0, 7-5, 14-2.

Adam Jackson said "The men played a much better match today. We are making progress each match and getting a little better every day. I was really happy with the fight we showed today."
