The Opening Tip:
  • Longwood is coming off another huge conference win on the road against Winthrop. The Lancers are now looking at five more regular season games left. If the team is able to grab two more victories they will tie the programs most conference wins since joining in 2012 - three wins would break it.
  • In the team's last game they slashed their previous season-high for steals in a game - new team total record 17. The last time the team had more than 15 total team steals in a game was against Radford back in 2018.
  • Kyla McMakin added another notch to her double-figure scoring streak. Now at 13 straight games, McMakin has scored double-digits in every conference game - 29 in the most recent game against Winthrop.
  • Kennedy Calhoun earned a new career-high in points against the Eagles. Calhoun able to grab 18 points on the road in addition to her four steals and three assists.

Series History
  • In the first ever meeting between the two teams McMakin and A. Smith combined for 51 of the Lancers 76 points.
  • For this game, the Aggies were short three of their top scorers and their top rebounder in the game against the Lancers after receiving news Tuesday they would not be able to participate due to COVID-19 protocols.
  • Coming into this matchup, McMakin is on a 13 game double-digit scoring streak beginning with the last time these teams met where she scored 29.

By The Numbers:
  • Kyla McMakin has been able to keep the streak alive during Big South play, putting together 13 straight games in a row with double-figure points McMakin grabbed a season best of 33 against Gardner-Webb in January, making her 29 point performance against Winthrop a close second. McMakin also strung four consecutive games with 20 plus points, matching the Longwood record in doing so.
  • Akila Smith has been one of the top shot blockers in the country throughout this season. She ranks first in the Big South with 69, and is ranked fifth on the national leaderboard. Smith is the only forward in the top 10 under six feet tall.
  • Akila Smith wrote her name in the Longwood record books again with her second career triple double, the third in team history, with a 20-point, 11-rebound, 10-block effort at Sam Houston on Nov. 30. Smith also hit her 1,000th point this season back on January 29th against Radford.
  • Kyla McMakin and Akila Smith are ranked amongst the top scorers in the Big South, coming in first (McMakin, 449) and fourth (Smith, 386) for final point total. This is the second straight season the duo remains in the top five.
  • Tra'Dayja Smith is the leading passer in the Big South for the second year in a row, with 124 assists on the year.
  • Kennedy Calhoun has been a menace to opposing guards defensively, and has made a stance for herself going into conference play. Calhoun earned her first ever Freshman of the Week honor after stringing together two more games in double-digit scoring and collecting eight assists back in January. She now has 66 steals, ranking second in the Big South, 15th nationally.
