CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Following a historic 2021-22 campaign that saw the Longwood women's basketball team reach the NCAA Tournament, the Lancers are ready to contend for another Big South Tournament title. The Big South conference released its yearly preseason poll and awards today with the season just around the corner, and senior guard
Anne-Hamilton LeRoy was selected to the Preseason All-Conference Second Team.
LeRoy has been an integral part of the Lancers' offense since her freshman year in Farmville. The senior carries career averages of 9.1 points per game, 1.2 assists per game, 2.3 rebounds per game, and is a career 31.1% shooter from three. After spending last season as a key scoring option off of the bench, the Big South predicts that LeRoy is in store for a big senior season.
Longwood was picked to finish sixth in the Big South preseason poll. The Lancers finished the 2021-22 campaign with a 22-12 record, won the Big South Tournament, and punched their ticket to March Madness for the first time in program history. The team returns seven players from last year's squad and welcomes several new faces to the program, including veteran head coach
Erika Lang-Montgomery and five transfer students.
The Lancers will tip-off the 2022-23 campaign and raise their 2021-22 Big South Championship banner on November 7
th at Willett Hall against the Delaware Blue Hens. Tickets to the event can be found
