  • Jack Schnell has been a steadying presence in the middle of Longwood's lineup to start 2021. The left-handed hitting outfielder holds a .341 batting average. He is tied for second behind teammate Hunter Gilliam with 15 hits in the Big South.
Scouting Norfolk State 
  • Longwood and Norfolk State meet for the first of two scheduled matchups in 2021. Norfolk State is set to travel to Farmville on April 6.
  • Norfolk State has lost three straight after playing back-to-back three-game series against NC Central over two straight weekends. The Spartans opened the season against Old Dominion.
  • The Spartans won the first series with NC Central, but NC Central swept Norfolk State this past weekend. At the beginning of the season, Old Dominion swept Norfolk State in four straight.
  • On offense, Alsander Womack was the MEAC Preseason Player of the Year for a second straight season, and the senior has already earned a MEAC Player of the Week selection after the team won two of three against NC Central.
  • Womack is batting .333 on the season and has hit one of the team's four homers while also driving in six runs and scoring a team-best 12 times. He is the only player with double digit hits, totaling 12 through 10 games.
  • Cody Donnell leads the team with a .571 batting average on seven at bats, while Dionte Brown holds a .400 average through seven games played, five starts. Raphy Rodriguez also is hitting .364. Korey Singh is the team's RBI leader with 10, and he has hit a pair of home runs as well.
  • On the mound, projected starter Ridge Walker holds a 21.21 ERA over two appearances. He has struck out two against two walks while being touched up for 14 runs, 11 earned, on 16 hits in 4.2 innings of work.
  • Out of the bullpen, Nolan Manzer holds a 0.00 ERA over two appearances covering 3.1 innings, surrendering a pair of unearned runs while striking out four without allowing a hit. James Deloatch has struck out 11 across three relief appearances in 9.1 innings.
