The Opening Tip
•    For the first time in the program's Division I era, Longwood will host a multi-team event in Willett Hall this Friday through Sunday, Nov. 19-21, featuring American, UMBC and Western Carolina.
•    Dubbed the "Jerome Kersey Classic" in honor of Longwood's most prominent basketball alum, the tournament includes five games, all of which will air live on ESPN+.
•    Along with the tournament festivities, Longwood will also host prolific sports writer John Feinstein, who will serve as a guest analyst on ESPN+ alongside Longwood broadcaster Sam Hovan.
•    Also in attendance will be Portland, Ore., sports writer and author Kerry Eggers, who wrote the recently published biography of Kersey titled "Jerome Kersey: Overcoming The Odds." Eggers, who covered Kersey with the Portland Trail Blazers, will be on hand for book signings.

Last Time Out
•    Longwood opened its 2021-22 home campaign with back-to-back wins over Virginia University of Lynchburg and Mid-Atlantic Christian Nov. 12-14.
•    Those two wins came by an average of 40.0 points per game with an 80-46 victory over VUL and a 93-47 win over MACU. The 46-point win over MACU was Longwood's largest margin of victory in the Division I era and the sixth-best in school history.
•    Wake Forest transfer Isaiah Wilkins registered his first career double-double in the win over VUL with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Justin Hill nearly achieved a triple-double against MACU with seven points, nine assists and 10 rebounds.
•    Longwood had seven double-figure scoring performances in those two wins.

By The Numbers
•    The point guard duo of graduate student Jordan Perkins and sophomore Justin Hill have combined for 32 assists and just seven turnovers through Longwood's first three games and have Longwood atop the Big South leaderboard in assists and assist-to-turnover ratio.
•    Perkins leads the Big South with a 14:1 assist-to-turnover ratio (14/1), while ranking among the league's top five in assists per game (4.7) and steals per game (2.0).
•    Hill leads the Big South in assists per game (6.0) while ranking tied for fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.0, 18/6).
•    Longwood is 2-0 at home this season and 28-16 in Willett Hall under head coach Griff Aldrich. The Lancers have had a home winning percentage of at least .571 in each of their first three seasons under Aldrich, with all three of those performances ranking among the program's best of the Big South era.
•    Longwood has assisted on 60 of 93 field goals this season, good for 64.5 percent of all made baskets.  Hill (18), Perkins (14) and sophomore DA Houston (12) all have double-digit assists, while Longwood leads the Big South in assists per game at 20.0.
•    Virginia Tech/Wake Forest transfer Isaiah Wilkins was Longwood's leading scorer in the season opener against Iowa, scoring 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting. His 19 points were the most by a Longwood newcomer in his debut since then-freshman Ryan Badowski's 21 in the 2014-15 season-opening win against Averett.
•    Only four Lancers have spent more than two seasons in the Longwood program: senior DeShaun Wade, junior Leslie Nkereuwem & redshirt sophomores Nate Lliteras and Cameron O'Conner. Half of Longwood's 2021-22 roster is made up of newcomers, including five Division I transfers.

Quotable
"We have what we call playmakers, rather than point guards. You saw Isaiah Wilkins bring the ball up too, and he had a bunch of really good passes. That frees things up, it puts pressure on the rim, it puts the opponents on their heels, and they can't key in on just one guy."
— Longwood head coach Griff Aldrich on Longwood's assist totals

Series History
•    Longwood is 1-1 versus American, with the last matchup an 81-79 overtime win for the Lancers on Dec. 30, 2006.
•    Longwood is 6-4 all-time against UMBC. The teams last met on Dec. 5, 2015, when the Retrievers took down the Lancers 70-59.
•    Longwood and Western Carolina have never faced each other.
