Lancer Leadoff
  • Longwood comes back home to host Binghamton after a midweek trip to Liberty.

  • Longwood has put up double digit hits on offense in three straight games and five times in nine games to start 2020.
  • Longwood has its first three weekend series at home, the first time it has done so under Coach Mau and first time since 2013 when it hosted Fairfield, Buffalo and Canisius on consecutive weekends.
  • Under head coach Ryan Mau, the Lancers have consistently ranked near the top of the Big South in strikeouts. Nine games deep into 2020, Longwood is second in the Big South with 86 strikeouts. In 2019, the Lancers were fourth with 411 and third with 468 K's in 2018.In 2017, Longwood led the Big South with 511 punchouts, breaking the school's D-I record of 440.  That season, Longwood was also third in the nation with 9.9 strikeouts per nine innings. The Lancers were fifth in the Big South in 2016 with 404 K's and third in 2015 with 440 K's.
By The Numbers
  • Longwood has racked up double digit hits five times through nine games in 2020 after not recording 10 hits until their 13th game in 2019. The Lancers have put up 15 hits twice and scored more than 10 runs twice.
  • Longwood has at least 10 hits in three staight games after not putting up 10 hits in three consecutive games in 2019.
  • The Lancers are second in the Big South with 81 hits and have averaged nine hits per game in 2020.
  • Longwood freshman Justin Looney pounded his first collegiate homer in crunch time against NJIT on Saturday, February 22. He hit a grand slam on a 2-0 pitch to end the game in the bottom of the ninth.
  • The walkoff homer was Longwood's first walkoff homer since Michael Osinski delivered a walkoff blast against Winthrop in 2017 in a 9-7 win.
  • Andrew Gorham had a monster opening weekend in his first series as a Lancer with six hits. On the season, he holds a .333 batting average and a .441 on-base percentage.

Scouting Binghamton
  • Longwood and Binghamton meet for the first time since 2010, when the two tangled in Farmville to open the season. Longwood swept the three-game series that weekend.
  • The two teams have played seven times, dating back to their first meeting since 1992. Longwood won the inaugural meeting 13-3. Binghamton's lone win across the previous seven meetings came in 2008, as the Bearcats took the third game of a three-game series 8-3 to prevent Longwood from sweeping the set.
  • Binghamton comes to Farmville in the midst of a 16-game road trip to start the 2020 season. The Bearcats do not play at home until opening conference play against University of Massachusetts Lowell on Saturday, March 21. Binghamton dropped three to Wofford on opening weekend before falling at Florida Atlantic over the weekend.
  • The Bearcats are the preseason favorite in the America East, being voted to finish first in the preseason poll. Seven players return in the field for Binghamton
