FARMVILLE, Va. - Longwood men's cross country junior
Nick O'Keeffe sat down to answer some questions in this week's Lancer Spotlight, presented by Hercules Tires.Â
Favorite race memory?
My first race freshman year becuase I realized I had achieved what I had worked so hard for-- it was a surreal moment.
What is your favorite thing about Longwood?
"The small community it has and how everyone knows each other-- that is what brought me here, and it's a really beautiful campus."
Do you have a favorite quote?
"A quote from Dave Grohl that inspires me every day is, 'I never took lessons to play the drums, and I never took lessons to play the guitar, I just sort of figured it out. I think if you're passionate about something and you're driven and focused, that you can pretty much do anything that you want to do in life.' I live by that everyday and relate it to cross country."
What would be the first thing you won the lottery?
"I would pay back my parents for putting me through college and then move to Hawaii instantly-- definitely the big island."
What is your dream job?
"To become a meteorologist and  study and track hurricanes in the Atlantic and work for NOAA."
A fun fact about you?
"I can play Eruption by Eddie Van Halen on my guitar."
If you be any super hero, who would you be?
"I would want to be the Flash-- it relates to running and being able to travel anywhere I wanted fast would be pretty awesome-- plus I would win all my races!
