KARLSHUE, Germany – Longwood men's basketball alumnus
Sean Flood is continuing his basketball career in the professional ranks after signing a contract with the Karlsruhe franchise in the Germany-ProB League.
A member of head coach
Griff Aldrich's first Longwood recruiting class in 2018, Flood made an immediate impact in his two seasons with the Lancer program, appearing in 61 games and playing more than 1,000 minutes. A key reserve and reliable three-point shooter, the Dublin, Ireland, native averaged 4.5 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game while shooting .397 (66-of-166) from beyond the arc.
Also a two-time Big South All-Academic Team selection, Flood graduated in May of 2020 with a degree in business administration.
Now with that degree in hand, Flood will continue an international basketball career that he began as a teenager as a decorated member of the Irish National Team program. Beginning with his time on the Irish 16U roster, Flood amassed numerous awards with the program, including MVP of the U18 National Cup Tournament, Superleague Rookie of the Year, and four-time National Cup champion with the Templeogue Basketball Club. He was captain of the U16, U18 and U20 teams, and played for the Men's Senior National Team as well.
Flood parlayed his international success into his college basketball career, which he began at Santa Fe Community College and concluded as a junior and senior at Longwood. His contributions helped the Lancers achieve a number of milestones in 2018-19 and 2019-20, including the first-ever Division I postseason berth, most Big South wins, highest Big South finish and single-season three-point percentage record.
Currently two games into his pro career, Flood is averaging 8.0 points and 29.5 minutes per game and is coming off a 10-point outburst in a 94-70 win over Oberhaching.
