FARMVILLE, Va. – Voting is now open for the 2021 Nancy Lieberman Award, given each spring to the nation's top point guard in NCAA Division I women's basketball. Longwood women's basketball senior
Tra'Dayja Smith was selected by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association for a spot on the preseason watch list of the top 20 point guards in the country.
Fans are allowed to vote once per day with
Fan Voting, presented by Dell Technologies, and they need a valid email address to vote. The initial list of 20 will be trimmed to 10 in February and again to five in early March before being presented to Ms. Lieberman and the hall of fame's selection committee.
Smith became the first player in Longwood history to earn a spot on the
Lieberman Award Watch List after a historic junior season that saw her rank fourth in the NCAA in assists per game while demolishing the program's single-season record for assists.
She is one of four returning starters for a Lancer squad that opens up the season on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at Duke.
