The Opening Tip

• Longwood returns to Willett Hall to face off against Campbell University after opening Big South Conference play 2-0 for the second time in program history after defeating Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian.

• The Lancers are 4-1 on Jerome Kersey Court with victories against UNCW, Brown, Delaware State, and Gardner-Webb. The lone loss at home for Longwood was a three-point defeat to the Pirates of East Carolina. 

• A win against the Fighting Camels would surpass the conference win total from 2018-2019, and match the 2012-2013 team for the best start in Big South Conference play (3-0). 

• The last meeting between the Lancers and Fighting Camels was in the Big South Tournament in Buies Creek, N.C., where Campbell bested Longwood, 54-49.

Last Time Out

• Longwood, who trailed at halftime, outscored Presbyterian College 44-27 in the final two frames of action to begin Big South Conference play 2-0 with a 71-60 victory over the Blue Hose.   

• Leading the way for the Lancers was the duo of Senior Dayna Rouse and Freshman Kyla McMakin. Rouse (18 points) and McMakin (14 points) combined for 32 points in the second half to lead Longwood to victory. 

• Kyla McMakin scored 14 points in the third quarter, including a stretch of ten straight points for the Lancers to spark the offense in the second half. 

• Rouse finished with a game-high 20-points for Longwood, with Kyla McMakin not far behind the pace with 16-points in the victory. Akila Smith finished with a team-best eight rebounds and matched Tra'Dayja Smith with six assists. 

By the Numbers

• Longwood extended their winning streak to four games for the first time since February 24, 2008 after defeating Presbyterian College.   

• The Lancers have the best scoring offense in the Big South Conference, leading in scoring (66.8 points per game) and field goal percentage (.407). 

• Longwood's defense has emerged as the leading shot-blocking team in the Big South Conference. The Lancers are averaging 5.36 blocks per game with Akila Smith leading the conference in blocks, averaging 2.5 blocks per game. 

• Gaining one spot in the national statistics, Tra'Dayja Smith ranks sixth in Division I averaging 6.1 assists per game, the best in the Big South Conference.

• Kyla McMakin and Dayna Rouse rank third and fifth in the Big South Conference in scoring, with McMakin leading the Lancers at 16.2 points per game. Rouse has raised her average 1.6 points per game in her last two performances to 15.9 points per game.  

• Dayna Rouse continues her offensive efficiency, shooting .608 from the court, leading the Big South and ranking fifteenth in Division I. 

• With Dayna Rouse scoring 20 points against Presbyterian College, Longwood extends their streak of 20 point scorers to eight straight games. During the stretch of eight straight games, Dayna Rouse has broken the 20 point marker four times, Kyla McMakin three times, and Anne-Hamilton LeRoy once. 

• Longwood is one of three teams in the Big South Conference that remains unblemished in conference play with a 2-0 record. The Lancers currently sit at the top of the Big South Conference, ten spots higher than where the 2018-2019 team finished. 

Series History

• The last meeting between the two programs was in the Big South Tournament when the Fighting Camels defeated the Lancers 54-49 to end Longwood's tournament run.  

• Longwood is 5-5 inside the walls of Willett Hall against Campbell with the Lancers' last victory against the Fighting Camels coming on February 17, 2018, in a 57-50 victory.  

• Dayna Rouse led the Lancers offense in the last meeting in the Big South Tournament with 18-points and nine rebounds.
