The Opening Tip
•    Coming off a one-sided 74-56 win over Charleston Southern Wednesday, Longwood returns to the Commonwealth to face new Big South rival Hampton Saturday at 6 p.m.
•    Prior to the game, the Longwood Office of Alumni & Career Services will host a pregame social at Phoebus Dive Bar, located one mile from the Hampton University Convocation Center.
•    Saturday's game is another road trip in a winter full of them for the Lancers, who after Saturday will have played 10 of their past 12 games on the road.
•    Saturday's game will also be Longwood's third consecutive trip to Hampton after facing them on the road in the 2018-19 regular season and again in the first round of the 2019 Big South Championship Tournament.
•    Longwood is among the top defensive teams in the Big South, holding foes to 69.6 points per game. Only one of Longwood's 16 opponents has reached 80 points in regulation.

Last Time Out
•    Led by a combined 32 points from former AAU teammates Juan Munoz and JaShaun Smith, Longwood put together its most complete game of the new year and ran away from Charleston Southern 74-56 Wednesday at CSU Field House.
•    Munoz scored a career-high 17 points and Smith added 15 to earn the Lancers their first Big South win of the season. The victory snapped Charleston Southern's three-game home-court win streak and dealt the Bucs only their second home loss.
•    Led by Munoz' 13 first-half points, Longwood opened the game with a three-point onslaught and maintained that pace to the final buzzer, hitting 11-of-29 three-pointers and getting multiple treys from five different players.
•    Complementing the offensive effort, Longwood's No. 3 Big South defense lived up to its billing from whistle to whistle by holding the Bucs to a .328 shooting percentage that was their lowest at home this season.

By The Numbers
•    Point guards Juan Munoz and Shabooty Phillips have both led Longwood in points, rebounds and assists in a single game this season. Phillips did it in a win over Stetson on Dec. 15 with 24 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Munoz did it in Longwood's last game, a win at Charleston, with 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
•    Munoz ranks among the Big South's top 10 in assists per game, steals per game, and assist-to-turnover ratio. He is one of only four players to appear on those lists alongside Winthrop's Chandler Vaudrin, Radford's Carlik Jones and Presbyterian's Chris Martin.
•    Munoz has at least one steal in nine consecutive games and is averaging 2.2 per game during that stretch.
•    Seniors Jaylon Wilson and Shabooty Phillips averaged a combined 35.7 points per game in the three matchups against Hampton last season. Both scored in double figures in all three games, including two 20-point outbursts by Wilson and one by Phillips.
•    Wilson enters Saturday's game with at least 10 points in six of his past seven games. He is averaging a team-high 13.9 points per game during that stretch with a pair of 20-point games.
•    Since head coach Griff Aldrich took over the Lancer program last season, Longwood has made (471) and attempted (1,310) the most three-pointers in the Big South.
•    Of Longwood's 165 assists this year, 119 (72.1 pct.) have led to made three-pointers.
•    Longwood has had a double-digit scorer off the bench in 12 of 16 games this season. The Lancer bench contributes 29.9 points per game, or 44.0 percent of the team's total.
•    The Lancers compiled a team GPA of 3.13 during the fall 2019 semester, which ranks as the program's highest of the Division I era.

Quotable
"This is the team we've been looking for."
— Longwood head coach Griff Aldrich after Wednesday's 74-56 win at Charleston Southern

Series History
•    Longwood and Hampton meet for the eighth time in series history and the fourth time as members of the Big South Conference Saturday in Hampton, Va. Hampton leads the all-time series 6-1.
