The Opening Tip
•    Fresh off back-to-back wins, the recharged Lancers head to Hampton Thursday night for a 7 p.m. rematch against the Big South newcomer Pirates.
•    After dropping four straight for the first time all season, Longwood has bounced back with consecutive gut-check wins against High Point and USC Upstate, defeating the Panthers 62-59 on their home court and pulling away from the Spartans 83-79 in overtime.
•    Longwood's past three games have all been decided by four points or fewer with two of those games going to overtime.
•    Longwood is 8-4 this season in games decided by six points or fewer. The Lancers have won four of their past five such contests.
•    With 15 wins, the 2018-19 Lancers have already won the second most games in the program's Division I era. Longwood has also tied the program record with five Big South wins.

Last Time Out
•    Playing in overtime for the second straight home game, Longwood rode 19 points from junior JaShaun Smith and pulled away from USC Upstate for an 83-79 win Saturday in Willett Hall.
•    Upstate mounted a 13-2 comeback run at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime, but Longwood won the extra period with staunch defense, timely makes and clutch free throws.
•    Longwood claimed the lead for good on Jaylon Wilson's go-ahead layup with 2:49 remaining and stopped the Spartans on three of their next four possessions, including on a timely charge drawn by sixth-year senior Damarion Geter.
•    Longwood won the rebounding battle 40-30, thanks to seven boards from Phillips and six from Spencer Franklin, four of which were on the offensive glass.
•    Phillips, Smith, Wilson and Sean Flood all scored in double figures for Longwood.

By The Numbers
•    The 2018-19 Lancers, in their first year under head coach Griff Aldrich, have already amassed the second most overall wins in the program's 15-year Division I era. Only the 2008-09 Lancers, then a Division I Independent, won more games, going 17-14 that year.
•    Of Longwood's 15 wins, 12 have come against Division I foes, which is the most D-I victories in program history.
•    The Lancers have also matched the program record for Big South wins with five, doing so with three conference games remaining. Longwood won five Big South games in both 2014-15 and 2015-16.
•    Longwood is just four made three-pointers shy of breaking the school's single-season three-point record of 275, set by the 2014-15 team. Longwood has already taken more three-pointers (787) than any team in school history this year.
•    Opponents are shooting just .478 (383-of-801) on two-point field goal attempts against Longwood, the lowest clip in the Big South. Longwood allows the fewest made two-pointers per game (13.7), nearly one full make fewer than the league's next closest team, High Point (15.0).
•    Longwood has held eight of its past 14 opponents under 30.0 percent shooting from three-point range. Thirteen of Longwood's 28 foes have shot under 30.0 percent from long range.
•    Longwood is 6-0 when junior guard Seán Flood scores in double figures.
•    Shabooty Phillips is the Big South's leading free throw shooter at 88.1 percent (89-of-101), which would rank as the third-highest single-season mark in school history.
•    Jaylon Wilson has scored in double figures in four of his past five games, shooting .444 (12-of-27) from three-point range during that span.

Quotable
"Frankly, it means a little bit more to [Geter and Franklin]. Damarion and Spen, they've got three conference games left. They're giving us everything they've got. I'm really proud of their effort and the commitment not only to the program, but to the university."
— Head coach Griff Aldrich on his two seniors, Damarion Geter and Spencer Franklin

Series History
•    Longwood and Hampton meet for the second time this season and sixth time in series history Thursday night in Hampton, Va. The Pirates lead the all-time series 4-1 and have won four in a row.
•    Hampton took the first meeting this season 96-83, doing so behind a lights-out shooting night that saw the Pirates knock down 16-of-24 (.667) three-pointers and shoot 29-of-50 (.580) from the floor.
•    That meeting earlier this season was the first between the teams since Hampton joined the Big South.
•    That first meeting also featured three 20-point scorers, with Longwood's Shabooty Phillips scoring 25 and JaShaun Smith 20, and Hampton's Jermaine Marrow scoring 22.
