The Opening Tip
•    Longwood hits the road again for a Saturday showdown against Big South foe Campbell in Buies Creek, N.C.
•    Longwood is 7-4 against Campbell since joining the Big South in 2012-13, which is the Lancers' best record against any Big South opponent in that seven-year span.
•    The Lancers have endured a gauntlet of a Big South schedule in the first half of the conference season, playing nine Big South games in a span of four weeks. Longwood faced preseason No. 1 Radford twice during that span.
•    Longwood is 7-3 in games following a loss this season. The Lancers have lost back-to-back games just three times all season and have yet to lose more than two games in a row.
•    Longwood redshirt senior guard Isaiah Walton was dismissed from the team this past Thurday for failure to meet team expectations.

Last Time Out
•    Behind 22 points from the Big South's No. 2 leading scorer Jermaine Marrow, the Big South newcomer Pirates outgunned Longwood 96-83 Wednesday evening to hand the Lancers only their third home loss of the season.
•    Marrow and fellow backcourt mate Kalin Fisher led that charge, with Marrow adding seven assists to his 22 points and Fisher dishing a game-high eight assists along with his 17 points.
•    All five Hampton starters scored in double digits, including forward Trevond Barnes who logged a double-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.
•    Longwood junior Shabooty Phillips shot 9-of-17 en route to a career-high 25 points – adding five assists and no turnovers – while JaShaun Smith matched career highs with 20 points and four three-pointers. Those two combined for 52 percent of Longwood's total points.

By The Numbers
•    Longwood first-year head coach Griff Aldrich has already led Longwood to six more wins than the team had one season ago, which currently ranks as the biggest turnaround among the 55 NCAA Division I head coaches who are in their first season at their respecitve institutions this season.
•    Following a 7-26 season in 2017-18, the Lancers are currently 13-11 for a winning percentage improvement of +.330, which is also the highest improvement among those 55 new head coaches.
•    Of those 55 newly hired head coaches, Aldrich is one of just 14 with a winning record. Of those 14, he is one of only two who inherited a program that won single-digit games a year ago, joining Pitt's Jeff Capel in that group.
•    Also in the first year under Aldrich, the Longwood men's basketball program logged its highest GPA in six years during the fall semester.
•    Longwood is 7-3 in games following a loss this season and has lost back-to-back games just three times. The Lancers have yet to lose more than two games in a row.
•    Longwood has held six of its past 10 opponents under 30.0 percent shooting from three-point range. Eleven of Longwood's 24 foes have shot under 30.0 percent from long range.
•    Shabooty Phillips is Longwood's leading scorer in those 10 games following a loss, averaging 15.6 points and 3.0 assists per game while logging a 1.77 assist-to-turnover ratio. Of Phillips' five 20-point games, four have come after a loss.
•    Phillips is the Big South's leading free throw shooter at 86.7 percent (72-of-83), which ranks as the fifth-highest single-season mark in school history.
•    Junior Seán Flood has hit a three-pointer in 15 consecutive games. Of his 53 made field goals, 41 have come from long range, including 20 in a row.

Quotable
"Conference play is always harder, but honestly, it's just us. I just feel like we have to continue to get better and focus every game. The games we've focused and when we have good effort, we usually come out with a win. If we play good defense, I feel like we can beat any team in the conference."
— Junior forward JaShaun Smith following Longwood's 93-86 loss to Hampton this past Wednesday

Series History
