The Opening Tip
•    In the first of back-to-back road games in the Palmetto State, Longwood faces Big South power Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C., Wednesday at 7 p.m.
•    The matchup pits the upstart Lancers against a Winthrop team that has strung together three consecutive top-three conference finishes. Meanwhile, Longwood is off to its best 18-game start of the D-I era under first-year head coach Griff Aldrich.
•    Longwood is 5-1 this season in games following a loss, having lost back-to-back games just once.
•    Last time out, Longwood redshirt senior guard Isaiah Walton scored his 1,000th career point. He is only the seventh Lancer to reach that mark in the 15-year Division I era.
•    Former Longwood head coach Jayson Gee (2013-18) is in his first season as the associate head coach at Winthrop. Former Winthrop assistant coach Marty McGillan is in his first season as an assistant coach at Longwood.

Last Time Out
•    Led by 25 points from Phlandrous Fleming Jr. and a 22-point double-double from Christian Keeling, Charleston Southern snapped Longwood's seven-game home win streak with a 101-91 win Saturday in Willett Hall.
•    The loss put an end to the best home start by a Longwood team since the 1993-94 Lancers went a perfect 13-0.
•    The Bucs' two 20-point scorers sparked an overwhelming offensive effort that saw Charleston Southern put up triple digits against a Longwood team that entered the game as the Big South's leader in both opponent scoring and opponent field goal percentage.
•    Six Bucs scored in double figures, and Charleston Southern shot .516 (33-of-64) from the field and .452 (14-of-31) from three-point range.
•    Isaiah Walton led Longwood with 21 points, including the 1,000th point of his career.

By The Numbers
•    Of the 18 new head Division I coaches who inherited teams that won single-digit games last year, only Griff Aldrich and Pitt's Jeff Capel (12-5) have winning percentages above .500.
•    At 11-7, Longwood is off to its best 18-game start of the program's 15-year Division I era and the best since the 2000-01 Lancers opened the year 13-5.
•    Longwood is 5-1 in games following a loss this season and has outscored those five opponents by an average of 7.5 points per game.
•    In those six games following a loss, Longwood has held the opposition to just 60.3 points per game, a .378 field goal percentage and a .292 three-point percentage, compared to 69.8 points, a .405 field goal clip and a .336 three-point shooting percentage in the remaining 12 games.
•    Of Shabooty Phillips' four 20-point games this season, three have come in games following a loss. In his six games after a loss, Phillips averages a team-high 16.7 points per game and 6.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
•    Junior guard Jaylon Wilson shoots .474 (9-of-19) from three-point range in his three games following a loss, compared to .188 (3-of-16) in his other four contests.
•    Isaiah Walton has scored at least 20 points in six of his 10 games. The Lancers are 5-1 when he scores at least 20 points.
•    Longwood's bench has contributed 25.2 points per game, or 36.1 percent of Longwood's total scoring.
•    Damarion Geter needs just two blocks to become the fourth player in program history with 100. Only two players — Colin Ducharme (2000-01) and Maurice Sumter (2003-07) — have hit that benchmark since the turn of the century, while NBA veteran Jerome Kersey (1980-84) ranks first all-time with 142 career rejections.

Quotable
"This was probably the first game that I felt like we got out-toughed. It was the first game I felt like we didn't have competitive fire. I wasn't sure what I was looking at — we got down by about eight, and it was like the balloon got deflated. I'm sitting there thinking, that's not our team."
— Head coach Griff Aldrich following Longwood's 101-91 loss to Charleston Southern Saturday

Series History
•    Longwood and Winthrop meet for the 14th time in series history and 11th time as Big South foes Wednesday in Rock Hill, S.C.
•    Winthrop owns an 11-2 record against Longwood and is on a 10-game win streak in the series dating back to Feb. 12, 2014. Longwood's last win over the Eagles came in the Lancers' first year in the Big South, a 62-56 victory on Feb. 9, 2013.
•    Longwood graduate student Damarion Geter has the Lancers' most experience against the Eagles, having played in five career games against Winthrop. Geter missed all four matchups in 2015-16 and 2016-17 due to back-to-back season-ending injuries.
