The Opening Tip
•   At 4-0, Longwood is off to the program's best start of the Division I era and one of the best openings in school history.
•   In its 41 years of existence, Longwood men's basketball has started a season 4-0 just three times — 2018-19, 2000-01 and 1979-80. Longwood reached the NCAA Tournament (Division II in 2000-01 and Division III in 1978-79) in each of those previous two seasons.
•   Monday's game will be a rematch of two coaches who were on opposing benches during one of the biggest upsets in NCAA history when UMBC beat No. 1 seed Virginia in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Longwood's
Griff Aldrich was a member of the UMBC staff, while Charlotte's Ron Sanchez was an assistant coach at Virginia.
•   The game will be a homecoming for Longwood sophomore
Kamil Chapman, a native of Charlotte and product of Comenius High School.

Isaiah Walton delivered his fourth straight 20-point game, and
JaShaun Smith poured in a career-high 19 points to lead undefeated Longwood to an 89-73 win over Delaware State and extend the best start in the program's 15-year Division I history Friday night in Willett Hall.
•   Longwood set season highs in points, made field goals, made three-pointers, assists and offensive rebounds en route to becoming the first 4-0 Lancers since the program made the jump to the Division I level in 2004-05.
•   The Lancers posted a pair of 40-point halves thanks to Walton's 21 points, Smith's 19 and 10 more off the bench from guard Seán Flood. Point guard
Lorenzo Phillips added seven points, seven assists and seven rebounds.
•   Longwood shot .475 (28-of-59) from the field and .429 (15-of-35) from three-point range. Walton matched a career-high with five of those treys.
By The Numbers
•   Longwood is 4-0 for the first time in the program's 15-year Division I era. The last time the Lancers started 4-0 was in 2000-01 when they finished the year 23-8 and reached the 2001 NCAA Division III Tournament.
•   Longwood is the last remaining unbeaten team in the Big South and one of only 81 unbeatens in the nation. Of those, Longwood is one of just 44 unbeatens outside the Power 5 conferences.
•   Led by a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game by guard
Isaiah Walton, Longwood has outrebounded all four opponents to start the season. The Lancers' +6.0 rebounding margin ranks second in the Big South.
•   Walton is also Longwood's leading scorer at 21.0 points per game and ranks among the Big South's top five in both points and rebounds per game.
•   Walton is Longwood's first player to score at least 20 points in his first four games in the program's 15 years as a Division I institution. He four 20-point games are tied with Campbell's Chris Clemons for the most in the Big South.
•   Longwood has not allowed a dunk this season, while racking up 14 of their own.

•   Longwood is shooting better from the field and three-point range on the road this season, posting clips of .462 (42-of-91) from the field and .373 (19-of-51) in two road games, compared to .434 (53-of-122) and .352 (25-of-71) in two home games.
•   Point guard Lorenzo "Shabooty" Phillips leads Longwood with 18 assists this season, 15 of which have come on made three-pointers.
•   Longwood's bench is contributing 28.5 points per game and has thrice scored more than 20 points in a game. The leading bench scorer is junior guard Seán Flood at 7.3 points per game in his three appearances off the bench.

Series History
•   Longwood and Charlotte meet for the fourth time in series history and the first time in more than two decades Monday in Charlotte. The 49ers hold a 3-0 advantage in the series, which began during the 1985-86 season.
•   The teams have not met since the 1987-88 season when the 49ers defeated the Lancers 77-51 on Nov. 27, 1987.
•   Longwood and Charlotte faced each other in three consecutive seasons from 1985-88 but have yet to play since Longwood joined the Division I ranks beginning in 2004-05.
•   The Lancers are 1-18 all-time against teams currently in Conference USA. The last matchup against a CUSA team was against Louisiana Tech in 2013-14.
