The Opening Tip
•   Now back to nearly full strength after enduring a rash of injuries in the first half of the season, Longwood has put together its two highest scoring games against D-I opponents in back-to-back games. The Lancers scored 79 points to beat Gardner-Webb on Jan. 6 and then poured in 80 in a 90-80 loss at Big South preseason No. 1 UNC Asheville on Jan. 9.
•   Longwood is in the midst of a grueling stretch through the Big South, playing four of the conference's predicted top five finishers in four straight games. Longwood beat No. 5 Gardner-Webb and lost to No. 1 UNC Asheville, and will continue that gauntlet against No. 3 Liberty and No. 4 Campbell.
•   Longwood head coach
Jayson Gee is one win away from the 200th of his career. He is 199-162 in 12 seasons as a head coach, seven of which were at his alma mater, Charleston (W.Va.).
