Radford Displays 1st-Place Pedigree Over Lancers

Four Double Figure Scorers Lead Highlanders to 10th Big South Win, 74-34

FARMVILLE, Va. – Four double figure scorers led Radford to its 10th Big South win of the season Tuesday, as the first-place Highlanders earned a 74-34 victory over Longwood inside Willett Hall.

Destinee Walker scored a game-high 16 points, as the Radford dynamic frontcourt tandem of Jayda Worthy (11) and Janayla White (15) combined for 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead an effort that saw the Highlanders dominate Longwood in the paint by a 40-14 margin. Khianna Johnson came off the bench to score 14 points while adding three assists and three steals in 25 minutes.

The quartet of Johnson, Walker, White and Worthy led an offensive display that saw the Highlanders shoot 30-of-64 (.469) from the field, including a 5-of-15 (.333) performance from beyond the arc.

Meanwhile, the Radford defense was equally as impressive, holding the Lancers to a season-low 34 points on 12-of-37 (.324) shooting and 3-of-13 (.231) from three-point range. That performance comes three days after Longwood matched a season-high of 11 three-pointers against Winthrop.

With the win, Radford (18-6, 10-3 Big South) keeps pace with Campbell for first-place in the conference standings with the Highlanders holding the tiebreaker. The 10 conference wins mark the third straight season Radford has won at least 10 Big South games. Meanwhile, Longwood falls to 4-20 on the season, 1-12 in the Big South.

The Lancers were led in scoring by seven points from Kemari Jones and Ciarah Bennett while Micaela Ellis posted four assists to mark her 17th time in 23 games with at least three assists.

Coming off Saturday's display of a school-record 15 assists, Ellis moves to within 17 assists shy of moving into the top 10 for most assists in a single season in program history. In her last three games, Ellis has averaged 7.3 assists per game to move into the conference lead with a 4.3 assists per game.

After two straight games inside Willett Hall, Longwood is slated to travel to UNC Asheville Saturday, Feb. 18 for a 2 p.m., tip, before returning to Willett Hall to host Liberty Feb. 21.
