The Opening Tip
•   Currently on a three-game win streak, Longwood hits the road for the third time this season to face former Big South foe VMI Saturday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. in Lexington, Va.
•   The Lancers have defeated N.C. Wesleyan, Bluefield State and Fayetteville State by a combined 21.0 points per game during that winning streak.
•   After opening the season with six of their first eight games at home, the Lancers begin a grueling December stretch with Saturday's game. That stretch sends Longwood on the road for five of their six upcoming games, including trips to No. 16 Arizona State, Illinois and Grand Canyon.
•   Longwood has the Big South's top three-point defense, holding opponents to a conference-low .286 (61-of-213) shooting percentage from beyond the arc.Â
Last Time Out
•   Chris Shields posted his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 13 rebounds to lead Longwood past Fayetteville State 61-52.
•   The win was the third straight for the Lancers, who also got 10 points apiece from Isaiah Walton and Spencer Franklin in the win. The 10-point effort from Franklin was his first career double-digit scoring game, while Walton's was his team-leading sixth double-figure game of the season. Walton also added five assists.
•   Longwood held Fayetteville State to .309 (21-of-68) shooting from the field and .130 (3-of-23) from three-point range. The Broncos hit just one of their final 16 three-point attempts.
•   The Lancers led by as many as 17 points before Fayetteville State closed out the game on a 6-0 run to cut the final margin to single digits.
By The Numbers
•   Coming off his first career double-double, junior forward Chris Shields has grabbed 29 rebounds over his past three games (9.7 rpg.). He grabbed just 11 boards in his first five games (2.2 rpg.).
•   Shields has either led or tied for the team lead in rebounding in each of his past three games. The 6-8, 200-pound forward led the team in rebounding just once in his career before that recent stretch.
•   Over the past four games, Longwood boasts a 1.08 assist-to-turnover ratio, compared to a 0.49 ratio in the first four games of the season.Â
•   Over the past four games, the Lancers have committed just 48 giveaways, or 12.0 per game. In the first four games this season, Longwood gave the ball away 78 times, 19.5 times per game.Â
•   Longwood's starting backcourt trio of B.K. Ashe, Isaiah Walton and Charles Glover has a combined 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio (35:23) over the past four games.
•   Ashe, Glover and Walton also combine to average 41.8 points per game on the season. They are the third-highest scoring guard trio in the Big South, trailing only Campbell's Chris Clemons, Marcus Burk and Shane Whitfield (53.8 ppg.), and High Point's Andre Fox, Jahaad Proctor and Brandonn Kamga (49.3 ppg).
•   Walton is the only player in the Big South to rank among the league's top five in points per game, field goal percentage, three-point field goal percentage and free throw percentage.
•   Glover is 12-of-20 (.600) from three-point range over the past four games. He has hit multiple treys in all four of those games and now leads Longwood with a .481 (13-of-27) three-point percentage on the season.Â
•   True freshman guard Kamil Chapman has hit at least one three-pointer in six straight games. He is shooting .370 (10-of-27) from long range and averaging 7.8 points per game during that stretch.
