The Opening Tip
•   Longwood hits the road for the first time this season, facing UNCG at Greensboro Coliseum in the UNCG Spartan Classic. The Lancers opened the season with three straight home games and played six of their first eight on their home court.
•   For the second straight game, Longwood will face a reigning conference runner-up as UNCG is coming off an appearance in the Southern Conference Championship game in 2016-17. The Lancers last faced Saint Francis, which advanced to the Northeast Conference title game last season.
•   Longwood last played UNCG three seasons ago, also in an early-season tournament at Eastern Michigan. The Lancers pulled out an 81-79 overtime win over the Spartans in that game, which was the first time the teams squared off in Longwood's Division I era, which began in 2004-05.
Last Time Out
•   Saint Francis' Isaiah Blackmon scored a game-high 18 points, and Keith Braxton posted a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead the NEC preseason No. 1 Red Flash past Longwood 83-56 Saturday at Willett Hall.
•   Those two were part of a game-changing effort from the Saint Francis backcourt, combining for 34 of the 67 points poured in by Saint Francis' guards.Â
•   Blackmon and Braxton's performance was enough to overcome a career-high 14 points from Longwood freshman Kamil Chapman and a near-double-double from
Damarion Geter, who joined Isaiah Walton as Longwood's double-figure scorers.
•   Saint Francis turned the game around in the final seven minutes of the first half, opening a 15-7 run that turned a tied game into a 38-30 halftime lead. Blackmon had seven points during that stretch.
By The Numbers
•  Â
Damarion Geter has more than doubled his career scoring and rebounding averages this season. The fourth-year team captain is averaging 9.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game through his first three games compared to the 2.1 points and 3.8 rebounds he averaged entering this season. Geter suffered back-to-back season-ending injuries in 2015-16 and 2016-17, limiting him to just three games during that span.
•   Geter's success has come at both ends of the floor, hitting 9-of-11 (.818) shots from the field while amassing the third-most defensive rebounds in the Big South (17) and the sixth-most blocks (3).
•   Guard Isaiah Walton has continued the breakout from his sophomore campaign, averaging 22.7 points per game to rank second in the Big South in scoring this season. He has scored at least 20 points in two of his first three games, including a career-high 32 against Columbia on Nov. 14.
•   Walton is one of only four players in the Big South to rank among the league's top 10 in field goal percentage, three-point percentage and free throw percentage.
•   Longwood is the second-best free throw shooting team in the Big South, shooting .719 (41-of-57) from the charity stripe. Walton leads the team with a .875 (14-of-16) clip, while freshman Kamil Chapman is a perfect 6-of-6. Longwood has shot at least 68 percent from the line in every game this season.
•   Armed with its largest roster in school history, Longwood has played at least 10 players in every game this season. The Lancers have 17 on the roster.
•   Despite being limited to just six minutes in each of his past two games due to foul trouble and an injury, Jahleem Montague ranks tied for fifth in the Big South with 1.0 blocks per game.Â
•   Pro-rated over 40 minutes, the 6-8, 230-pound Montague would average 10.6 points, 12.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 blocks per game.
