The Opening Tip
•    In the third game of a three-game homestand, Longwood hosts Saint Francis (Pa.) Saturday at 3 p.m. in Willett Hall. The game is Longwood's third in the past eight days, all of which have been on their home court. Longwood plays six of its first eight games at home.
•    Saint Francis was picked to win the Northeast Conference in the preseason coaches poll and will be the second preseason favorite the Lancers will face in their first three games. Longwood opened the year against projected Southland Conference champion Stephen F. Austin on Nov. 11.
•    Longwood redshirt seniors B.K. Ashe and Charles Glover have immense experience against Saint Francis after facing the team seven times apiece at fellow NEC school Mount St. Mary's before transferring to Longwood.

Last Time Out
•    Columbia's Quinton Adlesh and Mike Smith both topped 20 points to overcome a career-high 32-point night from Longwood redshirt junior Isaiah Walton and a double-double from redshirt senior point guard B.K. Ashe as the Lions outlasted Longwood 87-77 Tuesday in Willett Hall.
•    Adlesh hit five of Columbia's 16 three-pointers, including four in the first half, and Smith closed out the win with 12 second-half points.
•    Columbia built an 11-point halftime lead, earning a large-enough cushion to withstand Longwood's 42-point second half.
•    The game was within four points with 3:07 to play, but Columbia opened an 8-2 run to put it away.
•    Damarion Geter also set a career-high for Longwood with 11 points and matched another career-high with eight rebounds.

By The Numbers
•    Longwood has scored at least 30 points in the paint in back-to-back games to start the season and is averaging 31.0 points from down low, compared to 27.0 by opponents. Those numbers come alongside a defense that ranks tied for second in the Big South with 4.0 blocks per game.
•    Longwood has amassed 18 steals in two games, second most in the Big South. Redshirt junior G Isaiah Walton ranks second in the conference with 3.5 steals per game, swiping at least three in each of his first two contests.
•    Walton has continued the torrid offensive pace of his sophomore season, averaging 26.5 points per game this season. He is the Big South's second-leading scorer, trailing only Preseason Player of the Year Chris Clemons.
•    A transfer from UC Davis and Iowa Western, Walton has scored in double figures in 23 of his 32 games at Longwood, including eight 20-point games.
•    Sophomore F JaShaun Smith is Longwood's leading bench scorer through two games, averaging 7.0 points per game. He is shooting .625 (5-of-8) from the field and .500 (2-of-4) from three-point range while averaging 26.0 minutes per game.
•    Two members of Longwood's team are in graduate school this season. Redshirt senior Damarion Geter is pursuing his master's degree in social work, while graduate transfer Charles Glover, from Mount St. Mary's, is pursuing his master's degree in business administration.
•    Longwood's 2017-18 roster is the largest in program history. Seventeen players make up this year's team, 12 of which are in at least their third year of college basketball.
•    Two members of Longwood's team — B.K. Ashe and Charles Glover — have NCAA Tournament experience. Both Mount St. Mary's transfers, Ashe made it to the 2014-15 tournament at The Mount, while Glover made it in both 2014-15 and 2016-17.
