The Opening Tip
•   Longwood hosts Columbia Tuesday in Willett Hall in the second of three consecutive home games to open the season. Six of Longwood's first eight games are at home.
•   Showcasing the bulk of the largest roster in program history, Longwood head coach
Jayson Gee deployed 11 players in the season opener against Stephen F. Austin. The Lancers have 17 players on this year's squad, incluidng a combined 11 upperclassmen (graduates, seniors & juniors).
•   Longwood is just two seasons removed from its last meeting with Columbia — a 70-69 Lancer win on Nov. 28, 2015 — but only three players from that Longwood squad remain on the roster: Bryan Gee,
Damarion Geter & Chris Shields. Shields, then a freshman, hit the game-winning layup with six seconds left in that matchup.
Last Time Out
•   Stephen F. Austin forward Kevon Harris broke out for a game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Southland Conference preseason favorite Lumberjacks past Longwood 74-61 in the season-opener Saturday at Willett Hall.
•   Harris scored 15 points in the first half and went on to shoot 6-of-14 from the field, hit 11-of-14 free throws and grab four offensive rebounds.
•   The game was within one score for the first 17 minutes before Harris sparked a game-changing run with eight points during a 12-4 rally that sent Stephen F. Austin into halftime with a 41-31 lead.
•   Isaiah Walton led Longwood with 21 points, while newcomer Charles Glover scored 10. Jahleem Montague posted eight rebounds, three blocks, three assists, five points and two drawn charges in 22 minutes in his Longwood debut.

Austin. Including that game, Walton has logged 20-plus points seven times and scored in double figures 22 times in the first 31 games of his Longwood career.

The Lancers have two seniors/graduates, nine juniors, three sophomores — including one third-year sophomore — and three freshmen, including one redshirt freshman.
•   Two members of Longwood's team — B.K. Ashe and Charles Glover — have NCAA Tournament experience. Both Mount St. Mary's transfers, Ashe made it to the 2014-15 tournament at The Mount, while Glover made it in both 2014-15 and 2016-17.
