FARMVILLE, Va. –
Behind a double-double from High Point freshman Haleigh Hatfield and four starters reaching double figure, High Point stormed to an 89-70 victory over the Longwood women's basketball team Tuesday night inside Willet Hall.

Hatfield, who came in as the reigning Big South Freshman of the Week, put up a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double to help the Panthers end a two-game losing streak entering the night. The 13 points for Hatfield marks a season-best for the Winston-Salem, N.C., native.

The Panthers went off on the offensive end, hitting 11-of 25 three-pointers on .440 percent shooting from downtown and converting 24-of-25 shot at the free-throw line. From the floor, the Panthers went 27-of-62 (.435), while Kaylah Keys racked up a team-best four assists.

Hatfield was joined in double figures by Keys, who scored a game-high 25 points. Kat Harris also tallied 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting, while Emma Bockrath added 12 points along with five boards.

Longwood received near double-double efforts from Eboni Gilliam and Autumn Childress, but the rest of the Lancer squad was held in check for most of the night. Gilliam finished the game with 15 points and eight rebounds to mark her second straight game with 15-plus points, while Childress added 13 points and five boards.

With the win, the Panthers (9-15, 8-7 BSC) remain in sixth-place in the conference standings, while ending their two-game losing skid. Meanwhile, Longwood matches its season-high with its fifth straight loss, as the defeat marks the first game decided by double figures since the Lancers lost a 75-49 contest at Presbyterian.

Gilliam, a product of Richmond, Va., has scored in 15-plus points in three of the past for games and has come within three rebounds of averaging a double-double over the last two games. While she has been a force on the glass throughout the season, Gilliam's offensive game is rounding into form as she has enjoyed her best four-game stretch of the season.

Meanwhile, Childress' confidence is seemingly growing game-by-game, as the highly touted sophomore has enjoyed her best five-game stretch of her 49-game career. During the period, Childress has scored in double figures in two games while securing five straight contests with at least five rebounds. The Midlothian, Va., product has improved to rank 17th in the conference with 5.0 boards per game this season.

Sophomore Micaela Ellis enjoyed a solid all-around performance, as she scored 11 points and finished with five assists. The five assists marks the fifth time this season she has recorded at least five assists, while registering at least three in 14 contests this season. In addition, Ashlee Jones had a season-best nine points in the loss.

Redshirt-junior Daeisha Brown returned to the floor after missing the last four games with a leg injury. Brown tallied six points in her return, drawing her to within 13 points of becoming the 21st player in program history and the third in the Division I era to reach the 1,000-point plateau.

Longwood plays its second of four straight games inside the Commonwealth of Virginia, as the squad looks to avenge a loss earlier this season to Radford. The opening tip from Radford's Dedmon Center is set for 2 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 20.
