Longwood Hosting VMI On Saturday At 4:30 p.m.

FARMVILLE, Va. --
Longwood University will host VMI for a Big South Conference North Division men's basketball game on Saturday evening, March 1 at 4:30 p.m. at Willett Hall in Farmville.  The regular season finale and Senior Day contest between the Lancers (8-22, 3-12 Big South) and the visiting Keydets (17-11, 10-5 Big South) can be viewed exclusively on the Big South Network, and can also be heard locally on WVHL Radio, Kickin' Country 92.9 FM or via the Internet at wvhl.net.

Senior Day
Longwood will recognize five team members in a special pregame ceremony, including Tristan Carey, Jeylani Dublin, Jeff Havenstein, Mark Parker and David Robinson.

The Game
Longwood (8-22, 3-12) concludes its first regular season of the Jayson Gee Era on Saturday at 4:30 p.m., as the Lancers host Big South Conference North Division opponent VMI (17-11, 10-5).  The Keydets defeated Longwood by a score of 95-72 on January 8 in Lexington, getting a game-high 30 points from QJ Peterson, including 12-16 free throws, while D.J. Covington added 15 points and a game-high 16 rebounds.  Lucas Woodhouse led the Lancers with 17 points and a game-high eight assists.

The Series
Longwood and VMI are meeting for the 10th time in the sport, and the Keydets have won four-straight to lead the overall series, 7-2.  The two wins by the Lancers include a 110-89 home win on December 12, 2011 and a 54-49 road win on November 20, 1982.

The Keydets
VMI is 17-11 overall, 10-5 in the Big South, including a 70-67 road loss at High Point on Feb. 26.  Duggar Baucom is in his ninth year as head coach of the Keydets.  VMI, playing its final Big South regular season contest, is expected to start freshman QJ Peterson (19.9 points, 63 3FGs), seniors Rodney Glasgow (18.8 points, 5.6 assists, 71 3FGs) and D.J. Covington (18.1 points, 9.2 rebounds), junior Brian Brown (7.1 points, 41 3FGs) along with sophomore Phillip Anglade (3.9 points).  The Keydets, returning to the Southern Conference next season, shoot 44% (881-1994) from the field, including 33% (259-793) on three-pointers and 70% (459-654) at the free throw line.

The Lancers
Longwood is 8-22 overall, 3-12 in the Big South, including a 90-76 road loss at Liberty on Feb. 25.  The Lancers are expected to start senior Tristan Carey (18.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 92 3FGs), sophomores Karl Ziegler (11.8 points, 5.2 rebounds) and Lucas Woodhouse (11.4 points, 6.8 assists), redshirt-junior Jeylani Dublin (10.7 points, 4.2 rebounds) and senior Jeff Havenstein (1.4 points).  Longwood shoots 45% (764-1715) from the field, including 36% (173-482) on three-pointers and 73% (403-554) at the line.
