FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University will host High Point University for a Big South Conference North Division men's basketball game on Saturday evening, February 22 at 5 p.m. at Willett Hall in Farmville. The contest between the Lancers (8-20, 3-10 Big South) and the visiting Panthers (13-13, 9-4 Big South) can be viewed exclusively on the
Big South Network, and can also be heard locally on WVHL Radio, Kickin' Country 92.9 FM or via the Internet at

The Game
Longwood (8-20, 3-10) continues its first season of the
Jayson Gee Era on Saturday at 5 p.m., as the Lancers host Big South Conference North Division opponent High Point (13-13, 9-4). The Panthers defeated Longwood by a score of 83-75 last month on January 15 in North Carolina, leading just 33-29 at halftime and outscoring the Lancers 50-46 in the second half.Â
Tristan Carey led Longwood with 15 points and a game-high seven rebounds. John Brown led High Point with a game-high 24 points, including 20 in the second half, adding a game-high seven rebounds, as well.
The Series
Longwood and High Point are meeting for the 23rd time in the sport since 1984-85, but only for the seventh time as Division I programs (1-5), and the Panthers lead the overall series, 16-6. In addition to winning the earlier game this season, High Point swept both games last season, winning 88-60 in North Carolina on Jan. 30, and taking an 82-53 win in Farmville on February 13. The Lancers last victory against the Panthers was a 70-66 come-from-behind win in Farmville on Feb. 2, 2010.
The Panthers
High Point is 13-13 overall, 9-4 in the Big South, and has won three-straight games and nine of 11 overall, including a 67-60 home win past Liberty on Feb. 19. Scott Cherry is in his fifth year as head coach of the Panthers. HPU is expected to start redshirt-sophomore John Brown (19.8 points, 7.8 rebounds), junior Devante Wallace (11.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 62 3FGs), sophomore Lorenzo Cugini (7.5 points), along with freshmen Anthony Lindauer (4.4 points) and Jorge Perez-Laham (3.8 points, 2.9 assists). The Panthers shoot 47% (673-1424) from the field, including 38% (148-390) on three-pointers and 73% (357-487) at the free throw line.

Longwood is 8-20 overall, 3-10 in the Big South, including an 86-75 home loss to Radford on Feb. 19. The Lancers are expected to start senior
