"We're a band of brothers," said first-year Longwood head coach Jayson Gee.  "We made a commitment to re-focus our team.  We went to see a movie last night, 'Lone Survivor', and it really inspired us.  This team played inspired tonight and they showed what I believe Longwood Basketball is going to eventually be about … the caliber of defense is what I'm all about and what we'll eventually have in a full-time capacity."

Longwood jumped ahead from the start, leading 11-0 at 16:56, while getting points from four different players, including five quick points from Woodhouse, who made a three-point field goal.  Campbell managed four-straight points to make it 11-4 at 14:50, but that was as close as it would get.  The Lancers led 33-12 at 7:13 on a layup by Woodhouse, and it was 44-13 at 2:41 on a jumper by Carey.  Freshman Darrion Allen/Pompano Beach, Florida scored the last basket of the period with 1:10 on the clock to provide for the 33-point margin at halftime, also the largest lead for the visitors during the half.  Woodhouse had 12 points at the break, while Ziegler had 10 first-half points, and Carey posted nine points and nine rebounds during the opening 20 minutes.

Longwood continued its momentum to begin the second half and increased the advantage to 39 points at 56-17 with 15:06 remaining after a slam dunk by Carey on a back-side lob from Woodhouse (click here for more Carey dunks).  The Lancers maintained their largest lead of the contest at 59-20 with 14:34 left following a three-pointer by Carey.  Longwood continued to lead by 30-plus points for the next 10-plus minutes, as it was a 70-35 lead at 4:46 on a jumper from Ziegler.  Campbell finally managed to reduce the margin over the final 4:28, outscoring the Lancers' bench 18-6, behind five late points by McCarter.

Woodhouse led Longwood with his game-high 18 points, adding a game-high five assists.  He now totals a season-record 190 assists, and 370 career assists to rank 4th all-time.  Carey finished with 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for his third double-double this season, adding three assists and three steals.  He now totals 1,415 career points to rank 8th all-time, and 220 career three-pointers to rank 2nd all-time.  Ziegler added 14 points and six rebounds for the Lancers, while Allen had 11 points.  Redshirt-junior captain Jeylani Dublin/Brooklyn, New York, making his first start this season, and sophomore transfer Leron Fisher/Baltimore, Maryland, off the bench, each contributed eight points – Fisher also had a game-high four steals.  Longwood shot 50% (27-54) from the field, including 58% (19-33) in the decisive first half, 46% (5-11) on three-pointers and 63% (17-27) at the free throw line.  The Lancers out-rebounded the hosts, 40-26, including 15-8 on the offensive end, for an 18-5 advantage in second-chance points.

McCarter led Campbell with his 12 points, adding five rebounds and three steals.  Andrew Ryan added 11 points for the Fighting Camels.  CU shot 38% (18-48) from the field, including just 19% (4-21) in the first half, 18% (5-28) on three-pointers and 67% (12-18) at the line.

Longwood and Campbell were playing for the 10th time in the sport, and the series is now tied, 5-5.  The Lancers avenged a 75-67 home loss to Campbell last month on January 11 in Farmville, and the final 23-point margin of victory was the largest by Longwood against a Big South opponent since joining the league prior to last season.

The 13 first-half points scored by the Fighting Camels were the fewest allowed by the Lancers as a member of Division I (2007-08).  The last time Longwood limited a team to under 20 points in a half was last season at home against Dartmouth on December 1, 2012, when the Big Green trailed the Lancers 23-19 at the intermission.  The previous mark for fewest points allowed in a half since beginning Division I scheduling in 2004-05 was 17 on two occasions ... at home against Savannah State on Feb. 20, 2010 (30-17 at halftime) and at home against NJIT on January 24, 2009 (26-17 at halftime).
