FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University will play its first Big South Conference men's basketball home game of the season against fellow North Division opponent Campbell University on Saturday evening, January 11 at 5 p.m. at Willett Hall in Farmville. The game between the Lancers (5-11, 0-1 Big South) and the Fighting Camels (7-9, 1-0 Big South) will be video-streamed live on the Internet via the Big South Network (Free) at
bigsouthsports.com, and can be heard locally on WVHL Radio, Kickin' Country 92.9 FM or via the Internet at
wvhl.net.
The Game
Longwood (5-11, 0-1) continues its first season of the Gee Era on Saturday at 5 p.m., as the Lancers play their second Big South Conference game, and first home game since December 17, against fellow North Division opponent Campbell (7-9, 1-0) at Willett Hall in Farmville.Â
Jayson Gee, a former associate head coach at Cleveland State for the past seven seasons, was appointed at Longwood on April 3, 2013. A veteran with 24 years of college coaching experience, he helped the Vikings to four postseason appearances, including one NCAA Tournament and three NIT bids. Gee will be coaching his first league home game against the Fighting Camels.
The Series
Longwood and Campbell are meeting for the ninth time in the sport, as the overall series is tied, 4-4. The two schools split a pair of games last season with each winning on the road … the Lancers taking a 79-66 win in Buies Creek, North Carolina on February 27, while the Fighting Camels took an 83-73 win in Farmville on Jan. 9. Longwood and Campbell first played on Feb. 22, 2007 in North Carolina, an 88-80 win by the home team, and since that time, each school has won two games on the other's home floor.
The Lancers
Longwood is 5-11 overall, 0-1 in the Big South after a 95-72 road loss at VMI on Jan. 8. The Lancers are expected to start senior captain

Jeylani Dublin (11.3 points) has played off the bench this season. Longwood is shooting 45% (402-897) from the field, including 35% (82-235) on three-pointers and 73% (250-342) at the line.
The Fighting Camels
Campbell is 7-9 overall, 1-0 in the Big South Conference after a 74-71 home win past High Point University on Jan. 8. Kevin McGeehan is in his first year as head coach of the Fighting Camels. Campbell is expected to start redshirt-junior Darius Leonard (11.4 points, 5.8 rebounds), redshirt-juniors Reco McCarter (10.3 points) and Andrew Ryan (9.9 points, 31 3FGs), senior Leek Leek (4.8 points) and freshman Quinton Ray (3.6 points, 3.3 assists). The Fighting Camels are shooting 44% (389-878) from the field, including 34% (131-386) on three-pointers and 67% (172-256) at the line.
No Place Like Home
Longwood has attained a home record of 54-30 in Willett Hall over the last six-plus years since receiving its NCAA Division I certification and eligibility for 2007-08. The Lancers are 68-40 at home over the past eight-plus years, not including the first year playing a Division I schedule in 2004-05 (1-10). The program finished an uncharacteristic 4-9 at home during 2012-13, but was 7-5 during 2011-12, 10-4 during 2010-11, 9-3 during 2009-10, 13-2 during 2008-09, 7-5 during 2007-08, 6-6 during 2006-07 and 8-4 during 2005-06. Overall, Longwood has compiled a record of 272-152 on its home court over 33-plus years since playing its first intercollegiate contest in the building on November 22, 1980 against the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, a 62-54 victory by the Lancers.
