FARMVILLE, Va. – The Longwood University men's soccer team joined the Movember movement to raise awareness for men's health and to help combat prostate and testicular cancer. The Lancers will dedicate their regular-season finale against Coastal Carolina University on Saturday, November 9 to the cause. Longwood will collect donations, in addition to holding a raffle and selling cancer awareness bracelets for $1 each. Saturday will also be Senior Day for the Lancers and kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
"This is an extremely worthwhile cause that I feel resonates with our guys," said head coach
Jon Atkinson. "The month of November is men's health month and we have a great opportunity to spread awareness about this disease, which is the sixth leading cause of deaths amongst males. We will have a bucket for donations at our last regular-season home event of the year and encourage anyone to drop a dollar in to show your support for the cause. United We Mo!"
The Lancers have also created a Movember team page. Team members will be growing mustaches for the entire month to help raise awareness and donations. You can visit the team's Movember page

ABOUT MOVEMBER
As an official global charity, Movember's vision is to have an everlasting impact on the face of men's health. During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of millions of moustaches on men's faces around the world. Through the power of the Mo, vital funds and awareness are raised to combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges.
Movember's tagline, changing the face of men's health, aptly describes the challenge of participating in Movember – changing your appearance by growing a moustache for 30 days, and the outcome – changing the understanding and attitudes men have towards their health. The Mo is Movember's ribbon, it's the catalyst for change.
