BIG SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University will run in the 2013 Big South Conference Women's Cross Country Championship hosted by VMI at the Vista Links Golf Course in Buena Vista on Saturday, November 2 at 11:30 a.m.
"The women are prepared to face the challenge of the Vista Links course, one of the most challenging courses I have seen in my coaching tenure," said seventh-year Longwood head coach
Catherine Hanson. "My challenge for them is to garnish all the confidence possible and to carry that forth in this race. They have demonstrated that they are more than ready in many of the quality practices we have had in the last few weeks. My job is done, they need to go execute and enjoy the process of seeing how far they have come this season."
Longwood runners for Saturday's 5K race include senior
Emberli McGann/Stuarts Draft, juniors
Elisabeth Drake/Hayes,
Brittany Foote/Goshen, New York and
Hanna Sacks/Fairfax, sophomore
Emily Krause/Fredericksburg, along with freshmen
Hannah Fielder/Alexandria and
Gracie Piekarski/South Plainfield, New Jersey. Foote has led the Lancers in all four races this fall, including a team-best 5K of 20:17. Other top 5K times include Drake (21:17), Piekarski (21:20), Krause (22:17), McGann (22:59) and Fielder (25:40).
