FINAL RESULTS
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Junior
Brittany Foote/Goshen, New York ran a collegiate-best 6K time of 23:24 to lead the Longwood University womens cross country team to a 44th-place finish among 45 teams with 1,115 points on Saturday afternoon at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The College of the Holy Cross won the 'Brown' race with its 176 points, while Jessica Scordino of Mansfield University was the individual winner with her time of 21:13. Longwood will race in the Blue Ridge Open hosted by Appalachian State University on Friday, October 18 at 3 p.m. in Boone, North Carolina.
"The temperature was brutal for this time of year, around 90 degrees when the ladies started racing, and it impacted our overall team performance," said head coach
Catherine Hanson. "This team is young and inexperience, but really showed a lot of grit. I am very pleased with Brittany running a career best, and Elisabeth also ran a personal best. We are progressing well."
Foote finished 76th overall among the 365 runners, as her time was also the fifth-best all-time for the distance at Longwood, and was followed by junior
Elisabeth Drake/Hayes (25:20, 238th), freshman
Gracie Piekarski/South Plainfield, New Jersey (26:09, 283rd), sophomore
Emily Krause/Fredericksburg (27:17, 331st) and freshman
Hannah Fielder/Alexandria (33:34, 364th). Drake also ran a new collegiate-best for the distance.
