BOONE, N.C. -- Junior
Brittany Foote/Goshen, New York ran a season-best 5K time of 20:17 to lead the Longwood University women's cross country team to a second-place finish among five teams with 51 points on Friday afternoon at the Blue Ridge Open hosted by Appalachian State University at the State Farm Fields in Boone, North Carolina. Morehead State University won the 'Open' race with its 21 points, while Appalachian State's Sarah Moser was the individual winner with her time of 19:09. Longwood will race in the Big South Championship hosted by VMI at the Vista Links Golf Course on November 2 at 10:30 a.m. in Buena Vista.

Foote finished sixth overall among the 52 runners, and was followed by junior
Elisabeth Drake/Hayes (21:17, 12th), freshman
Gracie Piekarski/South Plainfield, New Jersey (21:20, 13th), senior
Emberli McGann/Stuarts Draft (24:29, 33rd) and freshman
Hannah Fielder/Alexandria (25:40, 44th). Drake, Piekarski and Fielder each ran new season-best times for the distance, as well.
