CARY, N.C. -- Longwood University posted 59 points in women's cross country to place second among six teams at the Great American Cross Country Festival Friday afternoon at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. The Bull City Track Club from Durham, North Carolina won the team title with 29 points, including three of the top six runners, as Jennifer Woods (Bull City) was the individual race winner with her time of 18:29 over the 5K course. Alisha Royal| Vinton (William Byrd) with her time of 18:34 over the 5K course to place third among the field of 56 competitors. Longwood will next compete at the Blue Ridge Open hosted by Appalachian State University of the Southern Conference on October 12 in Boone, North Carolina at 4:30 p.m.
Royal ran her best time this season and tied the third-fastest 5K in the program's history, and she was followed across the finish line by sophomore

Baxley and McConnell each ran new collegiate-best times for the 5K distance, while Drake, Short, Denny and Sprinkle each ran season-best times.
