CARY, N.C. -- Longwood University posted 121 points to finish third among 10 teams Friday evening at the Adidas Cross Country Challenge at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. Alisha Royal|Vinton (William Byrd) with her school record and personal career-best time of 18:23 over the 5000-meter course. Longwood will run again September 30 at the Charlotte Invitational in North Carolina.
Longwood was led by Royal who placed 16th among 96 runners with her new school-record time that bettered the previous record of 18:34 ran by Kristin Novara in 2005. Royal was followed by senior

Emberli McGann|Stuarts Draft (Stuarts Draft) (22:46, 5698th). Alley also ran a personal career-best, and posted the fourth-best 5K time in the program's history, while Drake and McGann each ran collegiate-best times.
Following North Carolina State among the top-five were East Carolina (35), Longwood, N.C. State's Track Club (124), and Virginia Wesleyan (132).
