NEW MARKET, Va. -- Longwood University posted 106 points to tie for third among five teams Saturday at the JMU Open Invitational at the New Market Battlefield near Harrisonburg. Navy took first place with 26 points, led by individual race winner Jess Placio with her time of 19:06, while the Lancers were led by junior
Alisha Royal|Vinton (William Byrd) with her time of 20:37 over the 5200-meter course. Longwood will run again next Friday, September 16, at the Adidas Cross Country Challenge at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.
Longwood was led by Royal who placed 13th among 63 runners and was making her season debut while running just her third collegiate race after being sidelined by various injuries for most of her first two years with the program. Following Royal were senior
