Antwan Carter|St. Petersburg, Fla. (St. Petersburg) with 15 points and seven rebounds. The host Mocs (5-8) of the Southern Conference only led 32-30 at halftime before outscoring the visitors 53-20 during the second half while led by Omar Wattad with a game-high 18 points. Longwood will play in the tournament's consolation game Friday, December 30, against in-state opponent Hampton University of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in Chattanooga beginning at 4:30 p.m.

David Robinson|Chesterfield (Cosby) as the Lancers led 19-13 at 12:20. The Mocs scored six-straight points to tie it at 19-19, but the Lancers used an 8-4 run to lead 27-23 at 7:35 on a three-pointer by sophomore
Mark Parker|Clayton, N.C. (West Johnston) that came after a layup from Carey and a three-pointer by Robinson. UTC, however, closed the half with a 9-3 run to lead 32-30 at the intermission as Drazen Zlovaric scored seven of the points. Unfortunate for LU, Carey was whistled for three fouls over the final 1:29 of the period, including his third at :00.8 sending Zlovaric to the line where he made the two go-ahead free throws.
Longwood scored the first basket of the second half on a layup by Carter to tie it at 32-32 with 19:35 left, but Chattanooga responded with 11-straight points to lead 43-32 at 15:20 as four players scored, including a three-pointer from Wattad and a layup by Keegan Bell. Carey was fouled out of the game with 12:15 remaining and the score 49-37 in favor of the Mocs, and the Lancers were no closer the rest of the way. UTC used another 11-0 run to lead 64-41 at 7:53, and Wattad made three-straight three-pointers for a 73-46 advantage at 6:17. Both teams emptied their respective benches at 3:52.
Carter led Longwood with his 15 points, adding seven rebounds, one steal, and one block in 28 minutes. He became only the second player (Jerome Kersey '84, 1,756 points, 1,162 rebounds) in school history with 1,500 career points and 800 career rebounds as he now totals 1,505 points (fifth) and 838 rebounds (second). Robinson finished with 13 points to tie his career-high for the Lancers. Carey added 12 points, all in the first 11:21 before his foul difficulty. LU shot 25% (15-60) from the field, including 20% (7-35) on three-pointers, and 59% (13-22) at the free throw line.
Wattad led Chattanooga with his game-high 18 points, adding seven rebounds while making 6-12 three-pointers. Bell, Jahmal Burroughes, Ricky Taylor, and Z. Mason each finished with 10 points for the Mocs -- Bell added a game-high 16 assists and nine rebounds, and Zlovaric had a game-high 10 rebounds. UTC shot 49% (32-66) from the field, including 33% (9-27) on three-pointers, and 57% (12-21) at the line.
It was the second meeting between the two schools in men's basketball, and Chattanooga has won both meetings.
