FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University will play its final men's basketball game at home before Christmas on Friday night, December 23, welcoming BIG EAST Conference member Seton Hall University to Willett Hall in Farmville at 7 p.m. Seton Hall is the highest profile school to ever visit campus in the sport of men's basketball. Jeremiah Bowman had 11 points and five assists. LU shot 44% (26-59) from the field, including 50% (10-20) on three-point field goals, and 90% (9-10) at the free throw line. The Commodores shot 51% (36-71) from the field, including 41% (12-29) on three-pointers, and 71% (15-21) at the line.

Longwood is 4-7 overall for its second-best start to a season since beginning with the Division I scheduling in 2004-05. The Lancers' finest start was 5-6 through 11 games during 2008-09 when the program finished a DI-best 17-14.

Head Coach Mike Gillian
Mike Gillian (North Adams State '86) was named the seventh head coach for men's basketball at Longwood on May 2, 2003. The Ayer, Massachusetts native is 79-175 overall with the Lancers, including 4-7 this season, along with a career-best record of 17-14 during 2008-09 when Gillian earned 2009 Independent Coach of the Year honors from CollegeInsider.com. He previously had been an assistant coach for current Miami (Fla.) head coach Jim Larranaga while at George Mason for six years (1997-2003) following a year with Coach Larranaga at Bowling Green State (1996-97).
Series History
Longwood and Seton Hall are meeting for the second time in the sport of men's basketball. The Pirates defeated the Lancers 78-51 last season in New Jersey (12.13.10).
